Consider the challenge of bringing in 2,000 tons of sand and a semi-truckload of
beach props and coordinating more than 100 volunteers who transform a vacant
downtown city lot into a beach for a two-day festival in August.
Aaron Perri has done it -- not once or
twice, but three times for the On the River festival that raises money for the
Center for the Homeless.
Now, he uses a word like "transform" in a
different way as he talks about changing or advancing the entire landscape of
downtown -- as the new executive director of Downtown South Bend Inc.
The city-financed nonprofit group
announced Perri's appointment to the position on Tuesday.
