The chairman and CEO of General Motors who took over the automotive giant in September 2010 will share his leadership perspective during a talk at the University of Notre Dame on Sept. 9.

Daniel F. Akerson is the kickoff speaker for Boardroom Insights, a fall lecture series offered by the Mendoza College of Business that brings in corporate leaders and senior executives to discuss current business issues. Akerson’s talk will take place at 10:40 a.m. in the Mendoza College’s Jordan Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public.

Akerson, who previously served as the managing director of private equity firm The Carlyle Group, became GM’s top executive during a time of foundational change for the auto industry in general and GM in particular, following the company’s Chapter 11 reorganization in June 2009.

In the coming weeks, Boardroom Insights also will host Ryan McInerney, the CEO of Retail Services at JP Morgan Chase, and Terrence W. Cavanaugh, the president and CEO of Erie Insurance Group, among other top executives.

All lectures take place at 10:40 a.m. in the Jordan Auditorium. The full schedule is as follows:
