Roderick promoted to president of Dead River Company's real estate division

PORTLAND, Maine – Richard M. Roderick of Cape Elizabeth has been named president of the real estate division of Dead River Company, company President Robert A. Moore announced today. Roderick remains as Dead River’s senior vice president. He previously served as the company’s chief financial officer.

“Dick Roderick is a valuable member of Dead River’s senior management team and this new position recognizes his significant contribution to the growth and success of our real estate division,” said Moore. “Dick will continue to be heavily involved in management and financial matters for the company.”

Roderick has been with Dead River since 1979. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Accounting, and received an M.S. in Computer Systems Management from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and an MBA from the University of Maine.

He serves on the board of directors of Gorham Savings Bank, the S Corporation Association of America, Piper Shores and the advisory board of the University of Maine’s business and engineering colleges. Roderick previously chaired the Cancer Community Center board, the finance committee for the Diocese of Portland, and the board of the United Way of Eastern Maine, and served as treasurer for the Maine Association of Non-Profits.

Organized in 1909 in Bangor, Dead River Company is still owned by the descendents of the company founder, Charles Hutchins. With more than 1100 employees, Dead River Company is the largest distributor of residential heating fuels (propane, home heating oil, and kerosene) in northern New England and operates a chain of convenience stores in Maine. The company’s Dead River Properties division, located in Portland, with Anne Littlefield as its General Manager, is actively engaged in commercial real estate, developing, owning and managing a large portfolio of properties that includes office buildings, industrial buildings and shopping centers in states from Maine to Florida.
