Scott James, Founder, Fair Trade Sports
October 23, 2009
Scott James is the founder of Fair Trade Sports, offering the world's first line of sports balls for soccer, football, basketball that are eco-certified and Fair Trade Certified. Like the Newman's Own brand, all after-tax profits are designated for charity.
Scott previously worked for Microsoft, but says that he escaped from the ample marketing budgets and cushy benefits packages and is now enamored with all things open source. He’s the marketing instructor at the sustainable MBA program at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute. Scott also serves as the "Free Market-er" at an abolitionist group called the Not For Sale Campaign that seeks to end human trafficking and slavery. Scott did his undergraduate work at Baylor University and his MBA at University of Notre Dame. He lives on an island near Seattle with his wife Susan and children, Justice and Mercy.
