Hazel Henderson, D.Sc.Hon., FRSA, is a futurist, evolutionary economist and author of nine books including the Axiom and Nautilus award-winning book Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy (2006). She co-edited, with Harlan Cleveland and Inge Kaul, The UN: Policy and Financing Alternatives, Elsevier Scientific, UK 1995 (US edition, 1996). The founder of Ethical Markets Media, LLC, and creator of its TV series, her editorials are syndicated by InterPress Service, with articles appearing in journals such as Harvard Business Review, New York Times, Christian Science Monitor and many international ones.
She sits on many editorial and advisory boards, including Futures Research Quarterly, The State of the Future Report, E/The Environmental Magazine, the International Council of the Instituto Ethos and the World Business Academy, and previously served on others such as World Watch Institute. She developed with Calvert Group the widely used alternative to the Gross National Product (GNP), the Calvert-Henderson Quality of Life Indicators, which she regularly updates at www.calvert-henderson.com.
Henderson has been a university lecturer, holds several honorary degrees and is an Honorary Member of the Club of Rome. She shared the 1996 Global Citizen Award with Nobelist A. Perez Esquivel, and is a Fellow to Britain’s Royal Society.
