Evaluation Criteria

The Notre Dame MBA Admissions Committee evaluates both one-year and two-year format applications along three general dimensions: academic aptitude, leadership and consideration of others.

Academic Aptitude

Academic aptitude is essential at all top-tier business programs, and it is especially vital in a modular-based program where the majority of course work is completed over seven week segments. The aggressive pace means students are asked to manage many tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, while also integrating new concepts and implementing lessons learned.

Indicators of academic aptitude include, but are not limited to, the following application components:

  • GMAT and/or GRE test scores
  • Cumulative undergraduate and/or graduate GPA
  • Transcript evaluation (e.g. linear trend, performance in specific courses, course selection)
  • Non-degree seeking course work
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CPA, CFA)
  • TOEFL and/or PTE academic scores (if applicable)

Leadership

Rooted in a tradition of excellence, Notre Dame’s MBA program is known for producing top business leaders across all careers and industries. As such, we seek to admit students with a propensity toward leadership.

Indicators of leadership include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Both the length and quality of work experience
  • Demonstrated career progression (e.g. promotions)
  • Management experience of staff, budgets or other resources
  • Experience solving complex business problems
  • Exposure and accountability to senior-level leadership within your organization
  • Time management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in teams
