MBA students win sixth annual McCloskey business plan competition

May 1, 2006

Congratulations to MBA students Tyler Tuttle, Keith Gislason and Jamin Hemenway (all MBA '06) who won the sixth annual McCloskey Business Plan Competition organized by the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. The team’s company, NatureCare, won the $15,000 grand prize for developing a proprietary organic lawn care line.

Other competition winners included the Reggae Island Grill, lead by Kirk Anderson (MBA’06), who won the Palo Alto Best Written Plan for a fast, casual, “topical theme-based” restaurant serving authentic Jamaican food. Catholic Domain.com, lead by Arina Grossu (BA’06), won the best undergraduate student plan. The plan proposed an online portal for Catholic merchandise.

The Gigot Business Plan competition drew 100 entries. The focus of the competition is to develop a plan for a business that has not yet been developed. Members of the Notre Dame community submit proposals to compete for $24,000 in prizes. A complete list of award winners can be found on the Gigot Web site at www.nd.edu/~entrep/ or by contacting the Center at entrep@nd.edu.
