Matthew Breitfelder is Managing Director, Global Human Resources, at BlackRock, the world’s largest investment management firm, with more than $9 billion in revenue and $3.9 trillion in assets under management. Matt leads the HR teams across BlackRock’s Alpha, Beta, Multi-Asset, Trading & Liquidity, Alternatives, Institutional and BlackRock Solutions businesses.
Matt previously served as Chief Talent Officer, with global responsibilities for talent management, recruiting, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, philanthropy, succession planning and executive development.
Prior to joining BlackRock, Matt was Vice President, Global Talent Management and Organizational Development at MasterCard Worldwide. Previously, Matt held talent management, strategy, and management consulting roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Corporate Executive Board. He began his career as an international economist and policy advisor with the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Matt has served on a number of advisory boards, including the Aspen Institute and the New York HR Planning & Strategy Group. He is the co-author of eighteen Harvard Business School case studies and of a Harvard Business Review feature article on the HR profession, which was recognized as a top 10% bestseller. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and universities, including Harvard, USC, NYU, Oxford, the Wall Street Journal and the European Commission.
Matt earned a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago, Illinois. He currently lives in New Canaan, Connecticut with his wife and their two children.
